I´m a newbe to this list as I just bought a second hand XT 600E with 26000kays primarily to do a two week ride into central Australia. It had already been fitted with a few nice rally bike extras like a 24litre tank, Works performance rear shock, and pro tapered bars so I fitted a side pannier rack with Andy strapz bags and a gear sack and away I went for the 6000 kay ride. The bike is really comfortable with an air hawk on the seat and a pleasure to ride all day. I really love the engine as its nice and tight and purrs along all day. My only dislike is the way it handles on dirt and as it is really twitchy and hard to keep on the narrow road tire tracks. On the thick sand its a bloody handfull and I hated it. I rode with two KTM 990´s and an old NX650 and they all seemed to handle the soft stuff much better that me. I´ve been riding dirt for many years but that deep bull dust had me beat. Eventually I crashed it in the sandy bulldust. Next time I´d try a knobby on the front and rear rather than the MEFO Explorers i used. This is a really nice bike and is a pleasure to ride anywhere. |
