Hi again, I got back from my trip in Norway. I ended up turning around in Trondheim in order to head back via Oslo, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and finally The Netherlands. Prior to the trip, I did fit the motorcycle with a GIVI wingrack and two 20 liter luggage boxes. On top of this, I had the Laser Produro (Street Legal) Exhaust installed. The possibility of carrying the extras in the luggage boxes, without having to strap it down in another way, was very nice. The Laser Produro Exhaust also added to an increased riding pleasure. Rrrrrummble! During the trip in Norway, both man and machine were exposed to all available kinds of different terrain and surfaces available in that country. I did not find it difficult to handle the motorcycle in the hardest parts of the journey. I felt bad for my compagnion who was riding a BMW GS 1150 with a total weight of 400 Kg! He did not really share my positive experience at times. However, he got a better workout than I did.... -:) The only problem I have experienced was the relative small size of the fuel tank. Cruising at 120 Km/h, I managed to travel a distance of about 180 to 200 kilometers before it was time for a visit to a gas station. However, cruising in the mountains at about 80 Km/h, I managed to squeeze out 265 kilometers out of one tank! At that point I even had about 2.5 liters over to use!. My conclusion is that it would had been nice if Yamaha could offer a larger tank for this motorcycle. Rather than having plastic covers with sticker details on the side of the motorcycle, it would have been nice to use that volume space for a few valuable extra liters of fuel. A couple of bolts on the heatguard shield on the forward part of the exhaust were also lost. I noticed some disturbing metal clank sound when I passed Hamburg, and quickly saw that one of the two bolts were missing. As a result, the heatguard shield got loose. Oh well, Murphy´s Law was probably in effect.I managed to get a replacement bolt during the trip, and I ordered two replacement sets (Bolt, Ring, Lockring, Lockring)when I got back. I have not had a problem with loose bolts since I applied the new ones. As I stated before, I bought the motorcycle with 4500 kilometers on the spedometer. It now has 21500 on it. I have had a great time on this bike and I would not even consider an alternative at this point of time! Regards, Johan |
