well it has not been run in a long time so it is risky to some level
i have a 1983 xt 550 and love it it is a daily rider it ha 76000 mi8les on it shows 57000 but speedo was broken for 5 years and im sure i put on 4000 or 5000 a year i live in the Florida keys so we ride all year.for me it would be a parts bike only so 4 or 5 hundred is what i would pay you will probably put another 1000 dollars in it to make run right 100 to 150 for carb rebuild tank should have some rust inside so 100 to 200 for tank cleaning and coating cylinder if has pitting (big ?)if it does well 600 for boar and rings and then oil filter and im sure some cables if you decide not to buy it let me know cause im always looking for a good parts bike a bike like that probably has real good wiring and electronics and a crap load of other parts for a guy like me hope i helped good luck cya
