I´m new to this discussion group. I picked up a 1980 XS850 Special that doesn´t run. 1) Front end is bent. Have another one 2) no headlight, no front signals and no speedometer/tach/instrument panel assembly attached. I have these items too. 3) kick started is not working. 4) oil leak from oil pan I´m hoping to get it to run. Checked compression.... 45-60psi Valve Clearance Allowable Range: Intake:0.11mm-0.15mm and Exhaust:0.20mm-0.25mm My Valve Clerances: Intake: 1) 0.10mm-0.102mm 2) 0.08mm-0.089mm 3) 0.114mm-0.127mm Exhaust: 1) 0.18mm-0.19mm 2) 0.18mm-0.19mm 3) 0.18mm-0.19mm The only one that is within range is Intake #3 I´m going to have someone double check my measurements. Is it unusual that the measured cleareance is lower than the allowable range? If I was to get the valve clearance within the proper range, would that increase my compression enough? Is there something else to be checked also ? Any help would be appreciated. |
