Hotello I,m brand new to this site. I just purchased a 1980 xs850g and an additional roller bike for parts.The previous owner said that he over charged the battery and it burst causing the lights to stay on when the key is out also it wopuldnt start.I got it home and tinkered with it and managed to get it started it ran well but today it will not start engine spins fine and it gives the occasional backfire but will not fire up.The gas is fresh and it is getting spark.Also I can remedy the light staying on by unplugging the rectifier do I need a new one.Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated.This is my first bike and I would love to ride it this season.
