Where did you get a replacement that would fit the Fuel tank mounting scheme? Or how did it attach?

To answer your question; the motor could under high G´s, & high RPM (like racing)suck the float bowls dry. After all this is gravity feed fuel flow.

However on our planet since the two petcocks feed a single tube feeding all three carbs (on the stock setup)... you should be fine.
Just remember that the tank drains to a reserve point on both sides.
Since the tank has a fair amount of bend to stradle the frame you may have to lean the bike to the left and slosh the fuel over that way when you get low.
