I just bought a 1980 XS850 special that has been sitting for 15 years. A little roughy but worth saving. I started with changing the oil, plugs and filters. Then I cleaned the carbs. After adding some fresh fuel it fired right up. Runs rough but runs. During the start up I noticed I had for gotten to plug the vacuum leads on cylinders 1 and 3. During the run I put my fingers over them and it started running worse. Jumped around a bit and died. I plugged them off and started it again. Still runnuning worse then the first start up. I unplugged them and it runs better. Not perfect but better. This is new to me. I have worked on many bikes and have never had this happen. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help. |
