Dear Golden, I have not had your problem pop up yet on my 750 triple but I have had an inordinate amount of clutch cables fail...You will be hard pressed to find a decent mechanic who will do the work, unless of course he sees a challenge and rises to it. Parts that will work are very hard to find. I had to do my own fabrication on many parts. I currently am trying to find even a picture of the mounting hardware for the original fairing for this bike. I could make anything work, but wish to make it appear as close to OEM as possible for the look of it. I do have the complete wrap around saddlebag guards, and bags. I also wish to change over to an electrronic ignition, as I ride daily and a lot of miles I must re-time and set the points too about every other week or so and it is a hassle. This bike has served me well and continues to do so. I have another one just like it with the engine all tricked out and electronic ignition, high compresson, and very fancy paint...with a nice warm engine, it will pull the front wheel up with minimal effort in third gear, for it´s size and weight it is pretty quick. The two bikes are 17 serial numbers apart and both of them sold new here in Atlanta. As for the parts issue...it is best to do a search(google)for ´motorcycle salvage yards´ in your entire state, you should be able to get contact info on each of them, many have toll free numbers, as well as e-mail, 10% or so will even have a web page...it is a whole lot cheaper to call around than it is to go out and just start looking...in the google search bar(also blocks popups for free...)I just typed ´1977 Yamaha Motorcycle fairing´...and it brought me here...I was just offered $2,000.00 cash(he showed me the wad of money) for my hopped up bike, but I had to pass on his offer, I have many hours of labor in these machines and they are like my children or something????!!!! I wish you luck in your quest. Meanwhile realize this, the 850cc triple Yamaha has many identical parts, I believe the jugs and top end will bolt up to the lower case of a 750. There was actually an aftermarket kit to do this sold at one time...perhaps a clutch would work out of an 850? I am strictly guessing here, but it is possible since so much else will interchange. I have an 850cc motor in parts and possibly could help you out if all else fails? c´ya on the net..."Zippo"
