XS 400J Gears 5 or 6 ?

I have a XS 400J 1982. It only has 5 gears, every piece of information I find online about this bike says it has 6 ?.
The haynes manual for this bike says they have 6 gears also. Do I have the wrong gearbox or is it a neglected variation ?
