Check the oil. Make sure it is does not look/feel thin. Also, make sure it does not have a strong gas smell. Mine had a small petcock leak that allowed gas to overflow the carb float bowls and creep into the oil reserve. I needed to change the oil and install a common lawn mower inline gas valve close to the gas filter. This stopped the gas from leaking into the carb. I tried use a petcock repait kid, but did not have any luck with it. I hope this helps and enjoy your XS400. |
