I have two XS2s and drive them both. One is restored, the other original. Both run well. I am not fond of the shocks or valving in the fork. I also found Mike´s XS lower priced shocks to be no improvement over the original. A friend who has a ´72 also had Franks go through his fork and it became much more pliant. I don´t what changes were made but it is a lot better than stock. Seat foam on my restored unit needs to be replaced. I enjoy the XS series and have later models also. My usual ride is a ´77D and when I need to haul I take a ´76 with a Velorex side car. A 650 isn´t any too much engine to pull a car but it is ok up to about 50 or 55. It´s better at 45 and for local trips that´s the speed I go. I´ve ridden and loved the XS series ever since I quit driving BSAs. |
