| This is a new one on me, but this is how I would troubleshoot the problem. Since you think it is the starter mating gear and going under that assumption, I would pull all four spark plugs. Next remove the left side timing cover. You should be able to turn the engine over using the nut that is visible and see the starter mating gear. |
