STARTING ISSUES!

I recently bought an 82 seca xj750. I jump start it cause the battery is weak. It just turns over and does not start. I spray engine start into the carberators and it starts but it idles very high and shuts off after a minute or less! Does anybody have any sugesstions? Thanks for the help!
