81 XJ backfires

I have an 81 XJ with 12,000mi. Second owner as of last year. Was fine, this year, it backfires and has low power. New fuel, battery, filters, plugs. Compression is 125/130/125/125 (book minimum is 128). May try 20W 50 oil. Looking for other ideas before a rebuild. Thanks
