starter works but won´t turn motor over

750 seca 1982 starter won´t turn over the motor but spins the case mounted gear only, also having problems with light wireing, nothing but gage lights works. can´t get a manual for this bike. twice now they have sent manual for a 3 cyl.
thank you for any help
