Rebuilding a 1982 Maxim XJ750J with my son. Fired up the engine today for first time and found it to be idling at 6000 rpms! It is supposed to be 550 rpms. Already adjusted cable for more slack and have totally loosened that up.
Only available adjustment is the idle screw. Is that the problem or is it possibly the diaphragm´s in the carburetors as this is a constant velocity system? Or is it something totally different that I am missing?
Please help
