Pod Filters on ´86 Yamaha Maxim XJ700S

Due to the fact that the airbox had split, and been replaced with pod filters, I´m wondering what to do with the line that used to run from the engine to the airbox. I´m not sure of the significance of the line and/or how it will affect the ride. Any help would be much appreciated
