Ben, Most likely the problem is that one or more of the jets(most likely the main jets) are clogged. Take the fuel bowls off and remove each jet(main and secondary). Squirt a cleaner like liquid wrench through each jet to clear it and make sure it is clean/clear. I have a 1980 XJ650 Maxim(since new) and this is the only thing I have had to do to the engine. Good luck and take your time with the carb cleaning. Especially, remember that "clenliness is next to godliness" with carb work. Phil |
