I just purchased a 1981 xj550 and umm it doesn´t start. I checked all the connections used the mulitmeter and found that the starter selenoid was working fine the starter was tested and cleaned as well. I checked each of the contact plates on the starter. So as far as I can see it´s not the selenoid our starter my battery is a little low but i tried to jump it with a battery charger. That didn´t work. The selenoid when hooked up to battery directly without the starter wire on it flips right over but with the starter cable on it It makes a clicking noise. I would appreciate some advice or maybe some shrink session this is driving me nuts.
