I have just purchased a 1981 XJ550 Maxim. The 11th digit of the VIN was obliterated by a rubbing wire on the neck. VINs for this bike should begin J4A5K500?B?
The 9th digit is a checksum, B=1981, and the 11th is for the factory where it was produced. Can somebody please, please tell me the 11th digit your VIN? I can get license plates for mine without it.
