After replacing a rear tyre last month, the mechanic decided to check my swingarm. His response astounded me, the bike has only 30,000 klms up and the swingarm has a crack in it. The mech. advised me that he had noticed this on at least 6 other FLHRs´ that he had worked on recently. He then explained that they had since changed the construction of the swingarm from tube steel to a solid cast that appears to be stronger. Efforts to have this resolved by H.D. Australia have so far proved pointless.
