Same thing is happening to my bike. Just bought a 2004 with 3,700 miles. The brakes make a terrible howl and sometimes make a scrapping sound when not engaged. If it were not for the brakes giving me a bit of a hard time, I would have nothing much to complain about. I love the bike otherwise.
