I was bothered by this problem, and fixed it by making a ´shield´, which fits into the groove that surrounds the instrument panel. it stands up about 3.5 inches, and slopes back toward the rider. it completely blocks out the glare. I painted it the color of the bike, and it doesn´t look particularly out of place.
