Recently bought a ´78 SR500 that had been idle for a long time. Restorable, so started with the brakes as they were not functional. Bought the kits, did the work, re-assembled, filled, but still no pressure at the caliper. The master cylinder piston has two seals in the action. One seal is on the piston, the other behind ahead of the spring. Both facing the same way, toward the hose. I cleaned a lot of rust and debris out, checked for flow, but still no pressure. Several mechanics said the fluid has to fill all parts of the master cylinder before any pressure can build. This makes a lot of sense, as I seem to squeezing air when the lever is pulled. Yet even with a vacuum pump pulling fron the caliper bleed valve, still no pressure. What´s the answer? Probably more vacuum than the 0.5 bar the pump shows maxed out on the guage. Any constructive suggestions welcome, as this is a joy to be able to finish. Thanks, and safe, happy riding. Keep her in the wind.
