Hey Wayne, I am sorry to hear you have the same noise I used to have, BUT there is hope. Yamaha told a local dealership to replace the "Cluch Basket" which did something with the gearing and so far, about 200 miles, the noise is not gone but is not annoying anymore. The number for Yamaha is 800-962-7926, they want you to first work through your dealer before calling them. Armed with this info you should fare well.
