My frame starts with a CMC I was told it’s a Daytona special

I bought a basket case. The seller told me it was a Daytona special and it looks like one he gave me a 400 D with the bike. The frame number start with CMC I researched it online and called Yamaha they confirmed it’s a 250 but my title says it’s a 79RD 400 is there a difference between the 79RD 250 US version and European 250 European or Australian version. It looks more like an RD 250 LC
