Bought mine in April 1973 from Commerfords in London. Wheelies all the way home. After my YAS1 125 this was a bullit machine. Nearly wrote it off 4 weeks later when a car turned right as I was overtaking it. Repaired under insurance. Started production racing with it at the end of 1974 and got lapped in my first race - damn. That was when I realised it was harder than it looked! Started the 1975 season determined never to be lapped again and got my first win later that year. 1976 I went to the Isle of Man with it for the Manx Grand Prix - man what a rush. Clocked at 120mph on the fast bits. DNF in the race due to front tyre blow out at 120 !! Still got the yam, and after I retired it from proddy racing in 1978, I put the road bits back on and used it to commute to work for a short while. It is now moth-balled in the garage. My verdict - a fantastic machine, and only the Kawasaki 500H triple beat me in proddy racing. Awesome machine for £363.00. |
