The Aprilia site said it had two 14" tires and the reason for the longer warrantee may be to overcome the issues my brother in law said existed. In my case I started riding in May at 62 years old and though I´ve ridden big bikes before didn´t want to muscle one around or fool with clutch and gear shifting.....and yet get good mileage. The Aprilia has a v belt drive and the Majesty a double cogged belt drive. You can feel the cogs as you start up through about 20 mph then it´s smooth as silk. I would bet that your Virago, et al, would all accelerate much faster to 60 as they are direct gears to the power. To put it in some perspective, the Yamaha dealers can´t keep them in stock so waiting may be a problem for you as the prices will reflect higher gas costs and these won´t sell as much below list. I paid $5300 plus junk on it versus $5800 list in May. My dealer can´t get any more until next year due to scooter demand. The people at the dealership all told me that they were surprised when they came in at how quick they were. I can out accelerate any car or truck from stop lights though I doubt it could do so against a 1000 cc bike with manual tranny. The bottom line is it´s fine for getting around and the 16 gallons of under seat space work quite well. I put a couple bungee cords across the back and have carried my adult daughter and I on a 90 mile ride quite easily. For me it´s a good compromise going up since I don´t have to muscle a bigger bike and my legs easily go over the low area to board the bike. I think of it as being as much fun as you can legally have with gasoline nowadays! Purists or trip enthusiasts wouldn´t want to ride even these big maxi scoots to Sturgis and back...iron butt would hit you though the Majesty has shocks in the back and front forks work up and down. I think the Aprilia or the Burgman would work..just wish I could have bought the Yamaha Tmax 500 parallel twin model they sell in Europe...the Majesty liquid cooled engine purrs right along and the muffler is loud enough to hear but extremely quiet when you are riding...a good mix for me since I don´t look much like a hells angel.
