I saw the Atlantic and since I´m 6´4" thought the CC´s interesting along with the tire sizes and the front disk brakes. The wheelbase is actually shorter though than the Majesty and I consulted my brother in law who´s ridden bikes since he was a kid and rides a Honda Shadow 750 now in Tucson and his advice was to shy away from the Aprilia as the people he knew had trouble getting parts and the long term wear wasn´t quite up to the better bike standards. I don´t know if that´s true but Bob is very experienced and takes care of his bikes. I bought the Majesty but honestly would have preferred the Yamaha TMax 500 twin cylinder bike they sell in Europe because of the two cylinders. However, it isn´t offered in the U.S. for some reason. The next parallel twin I could find was the Burgman 600 I think it is and the cost of that was what I could have bought the Honda Shadow for and well above the Majesty let alone the Aprilia. I think the Aprilia would work fine if it fits your size..you might try and check out reliability and parts supply issues first...if my brother in law´s experience is worth anything. I´ve got about 3500 miles since May on my new 05 Majesty and like it. It gets, as would the Aprilia, lots of comments when it´s parked and a week ago I rode for an hour with a group of Harley guys and other road bike guys on Route 5 towards Williamsburg as they and I happened along at the same time. An eclectic group, they welcomed me and I had absolutely not trouble riding with them at 60-65 mph or for that matter any other speed. They can get up to speed faster with larger engines and torque but anything above 300cc´s or so with 467#´s of bike seems to work fine on the highway. If you were used to a GoldWing´s ride you would think the Majesty a bit bumpier for trips but I´m sure you know that. I generally don´t go more than 70 miles in one direction with it and stop now and then to stretch my legs. I like the Majesty and like I said would have bought the TMAx 500 twin parallel cylinder model from an engineering point of view. I´m not sure I´d get all excited about the single cylinder getting much bigger since this works pretty well. The Majesty also outweighs the Aprilia and my brother in law tells me this helps in the wind of trucks, etc. I have no trouble at 70 mph with wind shear other than to feel it. The Majesty seems to handle it better than I like 75 mph wind whipping my shirt around in the summer. |
