I think a clean windshield is a good idea, except on a city lit rainy night, where the vision is impaired by the reflective lighting on the windscreen. In that case, I usually look around the windscreen, and sit with a straighter posture for the windscreen top clearance.
Tip toeing it really bothers me, because then I can´t ride it like a scooter, and it sort of almost becomes a small car for handling ability.
