With respect to Honda SWing, Burgman 650 or Majesty 400...I own a yp400 and love it. The Silverwing is a Reflex with bigger motor and can come or does come with ABS brakes. Not needed but then..... I sat on the Burgman 650 and thought it looked and felt sort of pedestrian or industrial and a bit old fashioned. At the end of the day my objective was not road trips but safe highway driving up to 75 and good mileage and some storage under or next to the seats with auto trans. I liked the water cooled, love the Yamaha engine and pickup though you do feel the cogged belt up to 20 or so then you don´t notice anything...it just runs and runs 2200 miles into it. Some have taken them to 95 mph and I have had mine to 80 and it is solid and stable enough to handle the biggest truck air backwash blasts and I get around 54 mpg in town andup to 67 on the road at it´s groove of 100 kmph. It just likes that spot up to about65 mph but is quite comfortable at anything. I like the wind better at 100 kmph than I do at 120 kmph so that´s part of the groove. I get lots and lots of compliments on the appearance and have given up telling people it´s a maxi scooter because of the auto trans...they all think it´s a cycle. The HOG´s all wave at me and one or two have told me when they asked and I´ve told them the gas mileage that they should have bought something like the Majesty. I like the fact that it doesn´t wake the neighbors like a HOG and am very satisfied with it. It works very efficiently and I can´t believe how much less gas I´m buying while having fun on local trips in a 75 mile area. You could take it on longer trips but I suspect that a bigger, road oriented bike with pegs to stretch your legs, etc. along with 18" wheels would be better. No Sturgis, S.D. trips for me but the Majesty is a good combo of appearance and function. The Burgman would have worked equally as well I´m sure and I suppose the Swing would have but it seemed overpriced. I could have bought a Honda Spirit 750 road bike and would have rather than the S-Wing and added a windshield. The Yamaha, Honda and BMW or maybe one of the other Euro bikes seem to have better name recognition for me than Suzuki as well. I´m happy with the Majesty and would have bought the 600-650 version if such a thing were available. In europe they make and sell something called the Yamaha TMax which is a two cylinder version of 500 cc´s that is pretty cool. Lower rpms for the bigger power due to the parallel twin cylinders. I would have bought that but it isn´t marketed in the states. It boils down to preference...as all of the mentioned bikes/maxi scooters work. Lance |
