Hi my name is Ian and I am pleased to say that I´ve just joined this FZX 750 group (I stumbled across it while trying to sort my igntion coils). I´m sorry to jump straight in with a question but any help will be appreciated. I recently bought a FZX 750 ´86 and I must say I´m loving it! After experiencing spluttering/stalling during heavy heavy rain on several occasions I decided to replace my HT leads/coils. I bought coils that were advertised for the FZX 750 1987 (only reason being, they were a lot cheaper). I didnt think there would be a great difference in spec but I checked the resistance of the secondary winding (of the 1987 coil) and I got a reading of 18.6kohms. The manual for my bike states the resistance should be 7.5kohms to 11.5kohms. Is it ok to use the coil I have bought even though it has a much higher secondary resistance? I can hear the sound of someone slapping there forehead! My 1986 FZX 750 is a Japenese import by the way (Should that make any difference). Regards, Ian.
