I bought myself Yamaha 600 about6 month. ...Horrible condition! Some simular aspects as your bike. a.Slow Running and Spitting? Check plugs.(if they get dirty after short period of time than you coils need to be replaced) b.Black smoke? Previous owner could rejeted your carbs with high stage jets but didn´t do to good of a job(P.S.I was answer in my sitution) c.Won´t satay running? Clean you carbs! Pull ´em out and clean ´em. Snap them back on but leave Air filter off, crank it and spray but don´t flood it with Crb and Choke Clener. Than last adjust your carbs. There is a idle adjusment(should be located near choke controll) Don´t even bother messing with it don´t do much! But between carbs(where you connect you wires to carbs) there is going to be a little screw, play with it it adjusts you idle close 10thRPM.
