Hello,
I also have an ´88 genesis 1000,your right they are bloody rapid, iv´e had 165mph out of mine and it did it very easily. If I were your I would check the fuel air mix is correct, other than that check the plugs to see if they´re burning very dark or black, ideally they should be biscuit brown.

All that said I have been doing about 300+ miles per week and Iv´e had to top up now and again, if you haven´t done so already give her an oil and filter change. When you´ve done these checks and as long as she isn´t smoking like a train I reckon all is good.RMG
