I´m an old bike mechanic from the early 80´s just looking for a challange so I bought a beat up %&#!¤ized 1989 fzr 1000 last month from a 17 year old kid for $500 who just had know idea what he was getting into. It had no compression so I pulled the motor and stripped it down to the cases. I found bent valves, wrong shims every where, upside down valve springs, loose bolts, carbs out of sinc, main jet in idle jet hole across them all,2 torn diaphrams, and much more. Fired it up finally after a month of anticipation and ebaying, searching for parts. Took it for a blast down to the end of my street and back, scared the %&#!¤ out of myself, and pulled my shoulder out for 2 days from the sheer acceration. Had to get the wife to rub it down for a couple days. Yup it´s fast, very fast, put a stage 1 kit in, K&N filter, and it already had a new yosh pipe, disconnected the EX-UP.
Hope to get a few tips from your site now,
thanks for listening,
Bruiser
