most 1000 cc sport-bikes take just shy of 4 quarts. It is cheaper to purchase the oil and filter from an auto part store than at the bike shop however makse sure that you buy motorcycle oil and not car oil. The best investment you could ever make as a new bike owner is to purchase the repair manual for your make and model bike.
