I have a 1994 FZR 1000 Exup which I have owned from new. The bike has around 40000 miles on it and developed a flat spot between 3500 and 4500 revs about 1500 miles ago. I had the bike dynojetted around 5000 miles ago as the emulsion tubes were worn and needed replacing. The power loss is more noticeable when the engine is hot so I checked the valve clearances and had to replace all the exhaust shims and 2 inlets because they were running tight. The flat spot is still apparent but less severe although still troublesome especially 2 up. Would an increase in rear sprocket size by 1 or 2 teeth assist in reducing this problem further and what would be the implications on fuel consumption and overall perfomance of the machine? Mechanically I have serviced the bike as per manufacturers guidelines and it has regularly been ridden hard solo and 2 up with touring luggage on. Thanks for your assistance with this matter. Regards, Daron |
