Leaking rear brake master cylinder

I´m overhauling the leaking rear brake master cylinder on my streetfighter
FZR1000EXUP (RU model, I believe - first registered June 1990). The previous
owner (who built some, but not all of the bike) says he´s pretty sure it is
the original component, and one of the close-up photos in the Haynes manual
suggests that it might be, as it shows the same vertical grooves on the
outside of the casting that are on mine. However, the accompanying sketch
doesn´t, and the piston kit parts look different there aswell.

Nonetheless, I still went into my local Yamaha dealer to price up a new
piston kit for it, but they were dubious about it too, as the exploded
drawing that came up on the microfiche screen looked slightly different to
the components I had in my hand (the microfiche drawing actually looked the
same as the Haynes sketch). I asked if there was a mechanic around who might
have had some experience of these particular bits, and who could confirm
things one way or another, but there wasn´t.

So I have a conundrum. For some reason, I´ve just got a gut feeling that it
actually is the original item, and that the Haynes manual is a bit
inaccurate. Nonetheless, I´d like to be sure before I shell out almost £30
for a new piston kit.

I have a few photos of the master cylinder, taken from different angles,
along with one of the internal piston kit parts - if any of you guys think
you could help me out and confirm whether or not they look like the original
bits, I can attach and send them to your e-mail address for you to have a
look at. The shots were taken with a good digital camera and offer
excellent, close-up quality.

Here´s hoping someone can help me, so I don´t waste nearly £30 on the wrong
parts!!

Cheers, Polly13, Hull.
