I´ve been told that this model requires a functioning battery (unlike some other models that will give you a spark - battery or not - when you turn the motor over) in order to get a spark.
I´m not sure if this is true or not, but I´ve been trying to help a neighbor get a spark out of his DT 400 without a battery and there is no way we can.
