Air Intake sensor

They are saying that my moped is going 26mph and then it goes 40mph now it wont start again. They say it is the intake sensor and they don´t sell that by itself . They said you have to buy the whole assembly which is 348.00 The engine light stays on and it will flash once and then 4 times which they say it is the sensor. is that right and can´t you buy the sensor only?
