in 1999 my wife bought me an old 1990 burgundy colored (with flames) VX800 from a gentleman that had 2 in his garage for $1200 US. She placed it in our barn for me to find and when I did it was love at first sight. The first thing was complete dis-assembly of the machine and rebuild. All of the metal and plastic was in great shape and needed no attention but the paint was faded. Had the machine completely re-done in a dark metalic green paint, new tires, new progressive springs, gone through all of the wiring and replaced anything questionable. Searched around for some nice hardcases for the bike and the only thing that I found at the time where Givi hardcases. I felt they did not complement the machine nicely so kept searching until I found a merchant in Ireland that sold a really nice set of Hepco Becker 30 Ltr bags with hardware for a reasonable price including shipping to the States. Once mounted my machine was complete. I have had many offers to purchase the bike but traveling through various parts of the States Alaska, Hawaii and Guam she has never let me down and will never sell. Currently she has 35,000 Mi on the ODO and still starts on the first crank. My wife and I are avid riders and have aquired (still Have) many various machines (Harley, Yamaha, BMW, Triumph) and yet I still work my way through the garage and move the VX to the front of the line ready for another adventure Deals Gap!?!. Always remember to keep the shiny side up and God Bless.
