The tech spec for the 1983 TS185ER calls for a 35mm Mikuni. The engine hasn´t changed much over the years and i found specs on a 2012 in the references on a wiki article on the ts series and they were still using the 35mm at that time. It sounds like you may just have plugged jets and cleaning or replacing them may get you going.
