How does the clip on the front brake sustem go in on a 1998 Suzu

While I was replacing my front brake pads, a small, rectangle clip fell out and I dont know how it goes back in, please help. It has a cutout that could allow a bolt or something to go through it. The brake lever is free, as in it has no tension and bleeding is not the problem. Thanks
