Here is a question for you, why would you even want to run out of oil. All of these LS650 are known for using oil [through the oil seals] so just every week check the level, they only hold 2.5 qts. at most so don´t let the level go below the add mark and you will be just fine. Low oil level probably will not prevent it from starting, but many other factors will so check over electrical system and such for not starting. One place to start is at the ECM, or the ignition box, they are know to go bad over time and they do act up starting on time and not the next then starting, buy a good used on from EBay, even if yours is good, a spare is good to have.
