Re: backfiring on closed throttle. I suspect it is due to a lean setting in the idle circuits. My 2000 W-650 Kawasaki does this also and that is the cause. On it the adjustment screw is under a Welch plug that has to be removed. We just live with it. Sounds kinda cute.
