Electrical Fault |

Have been riding GZ125 for a couple of months and had a constant problem with the electric start, solenoid clicks repeatedly but starter does not engage. Have been bump starting to get the thing going (whatever happened to kickstarts?). Will occasionally start properly when engine is warm, have tried shorting out across solenoid to see if the problem lies there but no joy, starter shows no sign of life. Problems have now got worse as headlight and tail lights blew last week, replaced them and they blew again immediately when I revved the engine. Cannot now keep the motor running, can start it (bump it) but engine dies after 5 seconds or so. Have checked for obvious shorts, or damage to harness, and can find nothing. Battery is less than 2 years and 2000 miles old and shows a heathly voltage when not under any load. Suspect a voltage regulator problem but as I don´t have a workshop manual and have little maintenance experience on bikes don´t know how to check. Can anyone advise or help? |
