Okay so this is a few years late... but maybe it´ll help someone.
My husband uses the blue magic metal polish to fix this. He has used it on numerous sets of headlights and its amazing what it does to them.. A little of the blue magic and some elbow grease will return them to a useful state and keep them looking good
