For what it´s worth I just finished breaking in an ´06 750 and can give you my opinion. I´m a 42 year old guy who´s been living for track days for the last couple of years and can tell you that this bike only needs race bodywork and sticky tires to be seriously competitive. I´ve been flogging a track prepped 929 with a pipe and PC III and the power seems to be about the same but this bike is infinitely more nimble, even with all the suspension work I´ve had done on the Honda.

As far as being a decent street bike, I wouldn´t buy one if that was my main purpose for owning the bike. The seat is hard, the plastic airbox won´t allow the use of a magnetic tank bag, there are no hooks for a rear pack, the underseat storage is nil, the lower fairings provide no weather protection, and the powerband is more track than street oriented. On the plus side, I got about 50mpg during break-in.

After owning many different bikes over many years the best advice I can give you is to not buy the hype. Any modern bike of almost any type will have more than enough power for you. Get something that´s comfortable and suited to your type of riding and you´ll be happy. Even a \
