How does this stack up? Beginner bike? |

I have been interested in motorcycles (particularly sport bikes, not so much cruisers) for a while, and from my research I have found the Suzuki GSX-Rs most appealing. I´ve ruled out the GSX-R 1000 and 1300, because I´ve never really ridden a bike like these before, and I´ve read that they´re about as far from beginner bikes as possible. I was considering the 600 and 750. Would it be better to start with the smaller engine etc or would it not be worth starting at the 600? Eventually I might bring it to the track and learn how to ride it, maybe in a couple years look into bike racing. I´d like the extra umph that the 750 has, but I´m not sure if I´d be stretching if I bought it as my first bike. Any pointers? Also, I make a pretty long commute every day (about 30-40 miles back and forth) and comfort was a definite concern. While I´d be using a car generally for these long treks, would the Suzuki hold out? I read some people´s concerns on other websites with stiffness, while others said that they traveled as much as 200 miles in a long drive and felt fine. MPG might also be a concern, if there´s a huge difference. I read somewhere that older GSX-Rs get as much as 50 mpg if you drive it the right way, is this true? Thanks a lot! |
