I´ve owned my´89 GSXR 750 since Nov.´92, it had 16400 km. on it.It now has 75000 km. on it.I´ve replaced the clutch twice, the chain 3 times, and each coil at least twice. The coils are the only thing I wonder about. Anyone out there had similar experiences with coils? I only use it for work transport these days, after pulling it out of retirement. It sat in the shed for at least 2 years after I bought a 1200 bandit, which I only sold due to loss of interest in road bikes. I realise at the sort of mileage it has, that it could do with some attention to the head at least. But then you may as well keep going, with new rings, pistons, etc.,not too mention the carbs. It´s physically in good condition, but not running too sharply.Valve clearances are fine, the carb´s are synchronised, and the mechanic has extensively experimented with the jetting, after replacing the needles and jets with new items. The K and N air filter is clean and it runs a four into one pipe, but that´s it for aftermarket parts, it´s otherwise standard, apart from braided brake lines.I would love to restore the bike´s internals back to new again, but feel the expense would be better put towards an alternative option. |
